Vibration control extends equipment life

A 2-fold reduction in vibration can increase bearing life by up to 8 times according to ISO 281. Lack of balancing accelerates bearing and shaft wear, weakens fasteners and welds, and increases noise and the risk of an emergency stop.

The system is used for dynamic balancing of rotating assemblies and technical diagnosis of the causes of excessive vibration: imbalance, wear of bearings, misalignment, weak fasteners or structural resonances.

Application of the device

For what mechanisms the system is used

Altair Expert and Altair Lite are used for electric motor and generator rotors, compressors, pumps, fan wheels, large grinding wheels, main shafts and hammer mill rotors. The equipment helps to reduce vibration loads and ensure long-term operation of nodes.

Measurements are made on the machine's own bearings, so the results correspond to real working conditions. This approach helps reduce downtime, avoid transporting nodes, and optimize maintenance costs.

Technology

How the measurement works

Vibration sensor

Attaches rigidly with a screw or magnetic suction cup to obtain a stable signal during start-ups and control measurements.

Phase angle sensor

It is installed on the body of the machine and oriented perpendicular to the cylindrical or end surface of the rotor.

Label on the rotor

A mark is placed on the rotor to measure the phase angle, after which the system determines the location and mass of the corrective load.

Resonance control

The speed of rotation should not coincide with the resonant zone of the machine; with unstable amplitudes or phases, the operating conditions are adjusted.
